What the Agent Does With That Message

Here's the decision sequence the agent runs through when the 11:47pm message arrives.

Step 1: Read It — Really Read It

The agent's first job isn't to categorize the request. It's to understand it.

"Water coming from somewhere near my bathroom... not sure if it's bad or just a drip... been going for a few hours."

A keyword match sees "water" and routes to a maintenance queue. Step 2: Check What It Already Knows

Before doing anything else, the agent pulls context from the property database.

This is context a routing rule can never have, because a routing rule doesn't read maintenance history. The agent does.

Step 3: Decide on the Response

With that assessment, the agent works through what needs to happen:

  1. Someone needs to reach the tenant tonight to assess severity — ideally a contractor who can triage by phone before deciding whether to go on-site
  2. The property manager needs to know, but doesn't need to be woken up unless the contractor confirms it's serious
  3. The tenant needs to know someone is on it so they don't go to sleep worrying
